"In general yes but nothing is quite simple when it comes to energy. It depends on how these laws are structured and which place we are talking about. Some states already have ways of making sure that regular rate payers are not affected. Some utilities claim it can lower rates. It would be wasted opportunity if we did not make the AI boom pay to better the power infrastructure. The dot com bubble gave us cheap fiber networking. Power might the one sure public good thing we get out of the AI boom/bubble. https://twitter.com/i/web/status/2020711152012156931"

"If this is true and I have to admit its possible there is one small part I can suggest refinements to. The part about getting your finances in order. If you are in a professional whose job might be affected then can you afford not to be invested in the industries that will benefit the most E.g. One obvious one is semiconductors (coz how else are the models going to run till they invent DNA computing). There are others things it needs like power (BTW humans make for terrible batteries no matter what The Matrix showed). This seems like a sensible hedge that you benefit from the things AI needs."

"Excellent article by @syouth1 - I'd like to think that I'm proof that something like this is very much possible by individual investors especially if you sprinkle it with wisdom from Lynch and your own profession/industry specific insights. https://www.morningstar.com/stocks/winning-investment-strategy-sitting-right-under-your-nose-if-you-can-hold-it https://www.morningstar.com/stocks/winning-investment-strategy-sitting-right-under-your-nose-if-you-can-hold-it"

"If you are looking for Lynch's insights focus on turnarounds. People assume he was a "growth" investor. In fact he made just as much if not more with turnarounds. I've talked about my thought process for a few like $AMD $BE but there are others like $MU $NFLX $EMBJ $GE etc. A surprising majority of the winners have been turnarounds. While I've never talked about why I invested in $NVDA and it wasn't a strict turnaround but I did buy it at a 60% drawdown"

"Its shocking how little importance is given to good test engineers in the tech allied engineering professions. So much so that the roles have been blurred and folded into others. Yeah right the guy designing it can be trusted to test it. Many hide behind test in production in a cloud world or just unit tests. Yes those can help but if you think thats the be all end all then I have a perpetual motion machine to sell you. In the meanwhile the poor SRE (site reliability engineer) type schmucks will bear the brunt. Those orgs where you have to be one for your own shit have somethings better but"

If you have a variant perception it's good to validate that at least some other folks who invest serious money think like you. Also see the end of my Substack post about Bloom. @syouth1 Ahh . "BTW there's a lot of similarity with Microsoft not embracing Linux and other platforms with Steve Ballmer. The moment Satya came on he green lit release of Office on iOS/Android and full fledged Azure Linux support .Net Core on Linux with many internal teams moving to deploy on Linux/Kubernetes on Azure etc. The key difference is that Microsoft engineers/mgrs had enough sense to already do the work that just needed someone sensible at the top to release. It's still shocking to me that $INTC did not use industry standard EDA tools till sometime before Pat. What were the board senior management"

"Right. I think the Bessembinder numbers were something like 40+% of stocks made money and high 50s% lost compared to T-Bills but that's not quite going to zero. But less than 1% made half the money so given the skew you could do fine picking. I think good investors have a rule of thumb of wanting to be right 50-60% of the time and if you hold long to let winners run you work that skew to your advantage. In comparison it's a waste to spend that effort on funds. I'm glad Morningstar is there to help but hard even with that"

Broadcom is something I've owned long ago and was an idiot for selling and missing. They are really the only partner for networking/IO/analog and physical layout/backend for anyone (not just the hyperscalers) doing a custom chip (all the other players in this space have some or other weakness). Also think there are minor opportunities in power semi names like $MPWR (unique fabless process). And ofc $TSM is something you can close your eyes and own"

"What I meant is that if you want efficient reforming to match Bloom you would need to run these stacks at higher temperature where both Elcogen and Ceres would degrade more. But they can do tricks like some pre-reforming outside the stack and slower lower temp reforming inside the stack. Less efficient ofc. As for Ceres vs Elcogen the Ceres stack is steel supported which helps with better thermal stability and cycling and can run at lower temperatures relative to ceramic only. I believe Ceres has bit of an upper hand here although without doing direct comparisons it's hard to prove anything"

Funnily enough I actually have a crazy idea that might work for some. Invest a 10-20% slice in a field you know something about in "turnaround" (see Lynch) stocks. If you are decent that will be uncorrelated enough. Plus you get tax loss harvesting if you have gains from employee stock anyway.
