"Single image to illustrate the extreme degree of uncertainty with the tropical forecast later next week. GFS and Euro are 1100+ miles apart in where a potential tropical system could be. What we know is that we don't right now"

"FOX Model sides with the hurricane models in taking #Jerry closer to the northern Leeward Islands and Puerto Rico than the hurricane center cone has. Possible for sure. Could be a big rain maker in Guadeloupe to the Virgin Islands if true. Something to watch. Impact would be Friday into Saturday"

"Still uncertainty with Invest 95L later this week. A scenario does exist it could briefly really take off in intensity but I have my doubts. HWRF and HMON below both show major Cat. 3+ hurricane #Jerry by Antigua and Barbuda this Friday (Oct. 10). Something to monitor for sure"

"Watching this tropical wave. Will be talking about it for a while still. One thing should be said it is not "GFS model fantasy" for this as of now in fact most models show development in the Caribbean later next week. Euro ensemble now already at a 50-60% chance for a depression south of Puerto Rico a week from now. Cruise planned to the Bahamas or vacation to Mexico end of month Definitely need to watch. We'll see what happens for Florida. Long way to go"

"Significant scope of severe storms I think Saturday and Sunday this weekend. Southern Illinois west KY Missouri Arkansas west TN Saturday. Sunday a fierce squall line will form in Pennsylvania with mainly a wind threat"

"SNOW The season is underway in the Pacific Northwest and Sierra Nevada. Ski season off to a start soon. Plenty of snow opportunities coming through Halloween from Aspen CO to Salt Lake and especially into the Canadian Rockies"

"Fall tornado and severe weather season could get a fast start soon in around XX days. Euro today albeit long range shows the 1st powerful mid-America cyclone of the fall so far. Ensemble support is there for a big front and potential low. La Nina in fall and winter does mean generally more tornadoes"

"12z EURO today shows major development into a strong hurricane in the Caribbean late month. This is going to be a very complicated headache forecasting wise of where this thing ends up. Point of this post is meant to be that conditions should be quite favorable"

"Canadian model now inside of a week as what barring an unexpected named storm in the Atlantic be tropical storm or hurricane Melissa in the eastern Caribbean. Think personally some are writing off the potential of Caribbean development next week to fast. Long range data is all over on where this hypothetical system would go after this point. Everything would be on the table"

"Today's EURO ensembles (left) getting more frisky with tropical development in the western Caribbean and southern Gulf starting later next week. Google AI (right) which has been on a "roll" of late. shows some signal too but not as many ensemble members generate something. Personally I would be quite surprised if nothing formed in these areas between Oct. 17-27 given the MJO shear water temps and upper level pattern that should move by. Keep watching on the back burner for now"

"Way I see it this tropical wave will do one of three things next week in the Caribbean. A: Either roll west into central America (possible doesn't develop much) B: Could become a pretty strong system over extremely favorable western Caribbean waters. would need to form slower initially to be able to track this far west. Maybe here could be a FL concern at some point C: Gets picked up by a trough or front and kicked east of FL next weekend Do not cancel your Disney Vacation Bahamas Cruise or Mexico trip yet. But we'll be watching the forecast in the Caribbean mid-late next week. "MELISSA""

"One thing at the top of my attention is this 500mb pattern late month. Will have monster implication on where potential hurricane would go that's in the Caribbean if it formed. Ensembles are loudly saying there could be a huge ridge over New England and eastern Canada which essentially blockades the overall pattern. Florida missing a tropical threat would likely need the correct timing of an upper level low slipping beneath that mega ridge at the correct date. If not hypothetical storm could just sit down there and meander for god knows how long. The timing of that significant ridging in"

"The center of this powerful Nor'easter will likely come "ashore" somewhere on the New Jersey shoreline Sunday with 40-70 MPH gusts right on the beaches and areas of coastal flooding and surge at times of high tide. Heavy rain should extend past the Mass Pike into Southern New England"

"It looks like the Nor'easter/gale/hybrid storm that will batter the coastal Carolinas and the Jersey Shore early next week will first form off the Florida Space Coast Saturday morning. Not ideal for the beaches. Going to be a lot of beach erosion and some coastal flooding at times of high tide with strong NE winds from Cocoa Beach to Jacksonville"

"NOR'EASTER: Turned into a double barreled low pressure system with a low off the Carolina coast and one off the Jersey Shore. Gusts have been 60+ MPH on the coast as expected. Big coastal flooding today in New Jersey. The roller coaster is from the "Bolero Resort" area in NJ. Peak rain and wind impacts from this weekend into Monday storm: 10.14" Georgetown SC 9.15" Oyster Landing SC 8.00" Pawleys Island SC XX MPH Barnegat Light NJ XX MPH Cape Lookout NC XX MPH Atlantic City NJ"

"Major typhoon off the coast of Tokyo Japan now. Why do we care in the United States This will become a massive post-tropical cyclone bombing out into western Alaska in a few days. All that energy will buckle the jet stream mid month and likely lead to a shot of cool air in the eastern U.S. eventually mid-late October"

"Have to say that tropical wave is looking rather healthy tonight. I don't see many models initializing how robust the convection it looks tonight. See how models may change tomorrow. We may see it tagged Invest #98L Friday starting the tropical modeling on it too"

"For all intent purposes this is a tropical storm equivalent Nor'easter set to impact the Mid-Atlantic and southern New England this weekend. Our new @BaronWeather updated model shows a low coming into Virginia Sunday with 50-70 MPH gusts on the Jersey Shore and into Delaware Bay. Even in Long Island Sound near Connecticut 35-50 MPH gusts driving water in. The specific track of this storm will dictate where the heaviest rain and winds end up but the storm is definitely going to happen"

"Google AI models show two distinct camps of scenarios for #Melissa next week. Quicker curve across Hispaniola or a slower but significantly stronger scenario that drifts slowly into the western Caribbean. And from there who knows where it could go. Some of the ensemble members from the AI are well down below 940mb which is quite notable of the potential in that scenario"
