When you have a good hand say AK off you are a 65/35 favorite to win against one play with any random hand. Reasonable odds worth a bet. Just like a good product against any random old incumbent or internal tool. But when you are playing against a full table of random hands (or competitors) your odds go down to 21.5/78.5. Your are a statistical looser against that much competition. Any one of them can beat you."

Yea Exclusive agreement for X months to close. Company stops fundraising runs down cash in expectation of closing. Two days before close acquiring CEO says board did not approve and deal off. Company goes bankrupt (out of cash) Acquiring company buys IP out of bankruptcy for $XXXX on the dollar of acquisition price. Gets XX% off the acquisition. Even hires a couple unemployed people.
