"Did you know we will not see this orange discolored effect on the upcoming Starship Flight XX for a very specific reason. On Flight XX @SpaceX was experimenting with some metallic and active cooled tiles but the experiment did not work out as expected & we wont see these used again. The plasma heating and O2 rich reentry environment damaged the metallic tiles and caused rapid oxidation (rusting) and this caused the orange residue. For Flight XX the heat shield will still have some areas without tiles on purpose for testing additional scenarios but the ship heat shield side should be mostly"
