"When they start sinking in the university rankings when new elite institutions like UATX and the @ufhamilton are getting more of their grads into top government and cultural positions. Oxford and Cambridge lost their status as the main entry-points into the British elite in the 18th c following the extreme politicization of same in 17th c"

"At @ufhamilton we were able to build a world-class faculty in X years simply by hiring the most outstanding white males who had been passed over by the prestige academy for the previous XX years + outstanding women faculty who were studying the 'wrong' subjects (like Western civilization) without paying lip service to DEI ideology. I defy anyone to name a better place to study Western history now. @newcriterion @ClaremontInst @NASorg @firstthingsmag"

"Hiring is controlled from dean's office. They choose the department chairs who choose the planning committees which decide the hiring priorities. As a known opponent of diversity hiring I haven't been on the planning committee in XX years"

"One thing the article by Savage doesn't mention is that some white males who stayed in the academy realized they had to work twice as hard as the diversity hires. The opposite incentive worked for many (not all) diversity hires who realized they could coast. The DEI ladies got the opposite of what they intended - a small group of highly successful white males and a lot of lackluster diversity hires. Fifty years ago the same logic operated to incentivize minority and female candidates before the system decided to favor them. Women (like my very distinguished late wife) and black men had to"

"University 'elites' right now are basically a few thousand people agreeing that fellow members of their group are good at their jobs. They give each other jobs promotions and prizes without any serious judgments of quality having being made ever. There are a few exceptions but not many"

"Xerxes conducted a public whipping of the waves of the Hellespont when they washed away his pontoon bridge. Maybe Australia should hold a public whipping of the 'guns' that killed 'people' on Bondi Beach"

"I noticed this already in 2010. My two best graduate students at Harvard both white males could not get jobs in the U.S. One left for Germany bad idea) the other is now in Hong Kong and is one of the leading historians of his generation. In 2020 I had a brilliant undergraduate in a tutorial who was literally the best student in his graduating class at Harvard (he won the prize 'for the student with the best academic record') who could not get into the graduate program of his choice. He left for Singapore. I find this whole episode an obscene offense against the principle of merit"
