"There are some quick remedies to this: - Full price disclosure of price to the patient before services rendered (except for emergency). - Price difference between insurance & cash rates disclosed up front. - Out of network "specialists" must be covered by network plan. The auto insurance / repair industry is more reasonable because there's much more disclosure upfront. There are larger systemic issues to address but this would be a good first step"
