"No having a mix of foods is best. Yes things like dry goods i.e. pasta rice and beans can be stored for decades but they require water another resource to cook. I have those stored in mylar bags with [--] absorbers and more along with food Ive canned myself (meat and vegetables) #10 cans from nutrient survival MREs and life raft/emergency rations. I also have ways to filter and purify water including a distiller you can put on a camp fire. Im looking at picking up some of the new CCAR MREs and some humanitarian rations as well. Same footprint as a typical MRE but a full days worth of calories."
