"@Neon__Midnights @123db_GEEK @AlexEdgerton You obviously haven't driven an EV because many of them are engaging and exhilarating. Try making that comment after driving a Polestar X which I have driven or a Porsche Taycan which I have not driven but has an amazing reputation. I also love the Hyundai Ioniq 5"

"@keewa While the video is from The Netherlands I agree with your comment. I'm British but lived in NY in the 1970s/'80s because my father was a diplomat at the UN. I passed the NY test in '81 and the UK test in '82. The UK test required real skills while in NY it was far too simple"

"@FatherReturneth @Homer_EFG @AlexEdgerton Absolutely agree. My annual long trips start in Bristol and I go to Lincoln and various places in Sussex Surrey and Hampshire. Then there are other one-off trips. I never buy fuel on the motorway. It's cheaper to take the next exit and find a big supermarket petrol station"

"@Neon__Midnights @123db_GEEK @AlexEdgerton No Polestar didn't go bankrupt. I have driven a car with (I presume) a V8. I know it had X cylinders. There are very good cars with X X X and X cylinders but American gas guzzlers are unnecessary and not particularly good. Handling is far more important than raw power"

"@Neon__Midnights @123db_GEEK @AlexEdgerton Gold is quite probably overpriced. It's a historic safe haven when the world economy is under threat. War in Ukraine the unpredictability of President Trump the warmongering of Vladimir Putin all contribute. There's actually enough gold but most of it is still in the ground"

"@Neon__Midnights @AlexEdgerton @123db_GEEK That is not true. While it's not recommended to charge above XX% regularly you can go to XXX% for occasional long trips. Likewise XX% is quoted because the charge rate from 0-20% is slow but you can safely go down to XX% or even X% if you know a charger is available"

"@123db_GEEK @Neon__Midnights @AlexEdgerton Yes but the number of people who don't want a meal or at the very least a toilet break after X hours is vanishingly small. Many EVs can add 250-300 miles during a XX minute meal break. Even in the US Canada & Australia 600-mile journeys are rare maybe X% or fewer journeys"

"@Homer_EFG @FatherReturneth @AlexEdgerton I wouldn't take my car abroad except to the Republic of Ireland. However I would hire a car on the Continent and if I were to do so I'd be quite happy with Hyundai Ioniq X Long Range. I wouldn't worry about range in that car even if I were to drive from Paris to Rome"

"@Neon__Midnights @123db_GEEK @AlexEdgerton I don't. It's prohibitively expensive to fuel and I don't need a large car; I actually need a small car because I live in a city with congested and narrow roads. In fact I usually take the bus into the centre and use the car for journeys out of town including to work"

"@AdamCrigler Where in the world are you In Europe Ford is very good. I would also consider Hyundai Kia Renault EVs BMW Nissan Mercedes Audi ICEs VW and Skoda. It depends on your budget what you need and where you are. Urban suburban or rural"

"@Gorilder @Navsteva In the UK the minimum wage will give 1957pm based on a 37-hour week. At today's exchange rate that's $2623pm. However the State Pension is about half that. I think that the US definition of poverty is far harsher than the UK's. Definitions are different for each country"
