"I fried a few buck converters because I ignored the voltage rating of EN pin. I tend to assume that voltage ratings for VIN and EN pin should be the same but it's not always the case. A buck converter I am using can handle up to 20V as input voltage but its EN pin can only handle up to 8V so when I fed 12V to it it fried and stop working. Question: Is conditional compilation acceptable for unit testing For example I have a function that manipulates bits and bytes for my ADC registers but it also triggers a DMA transfer. I want to test the logic but the DMA obviously won't work on my PC. I want to just compile the DMA transfer away with an #ifdef. I know people usually say "just mock it" but the DMA function is in another file that I wrote. Do I really have to write mocks for my own functions Whats the "nice" way to handle this"
