"I saw this Makita Maktrak system for the first time at the World of Concrete show last month in Vegas. This may be a system you could consider if youre in the market for portable tool storage. The main feature I like is the ability to load it into a truck or van easily by yourself. Its easy to unclick the upper storage units if its too heavy to load it all in one shot. With [--] medium units stacked together it fits under most truck bed covers (21 1/2). You can open any box without unstacking with a range of different height organizers for small fasteners or larger tools. If you need to get your"

"This was one of the neatest things I saw at the Hardware Huddle today. I work with ladders all the time so I get all of the pain points. With most of my extension ladders I just take the string off completely because they often get in the way. This is definitely a neat innovation that little black box has a spring in it and operates much like an overhead garage door so it takes the weight off of the rope as youre pulling it up. It also slows the fall down in case you accidentally let go of the rope. These features were definitely thought through and will save you a lot of energy and headache"

Depending on the shape of the drip cap you can do outside corners in once piece as well. I typically one piece the outside corner only when the drip edge comes down [--] or itll look funny. Note- thats is the existing Tyvek from the concrete stair install I overlap my Tyvek over the flashing. And another note the overhead porch extends [--] past this door 👍 I hope this video helps. "I was at a trade show last year and Grabo asked me to try the pull-up challenge. I ended up winning the pair of Grabos which is a really cool product. You can use it to lift sheet goods tile concrete pavers etc. Ive used it to move a workbench full of tools before. Ive never worked out in my life other than some push ups and pull ups here and there so my form isnt great 🤷🏻♂ cause I know therell be haters in the comments. "If you can access a seam the easiest way to remove a piece of vinyl siding is to grab the edge of the seam and pull the lock away at the bottom. If there is no seam above the piece you need to remove then you can use either of these methods shown in the video. I hope this video is useful to you if you need to replace a piece of damaged siding mid wall. Thanks for watching and following along. "I got this Spring Tool when I was at the International Builders show in Vegas earlier this year. This is the first time Ive used it. My friend gave me a metal cage for my bike which needed to be retrofitted (a few mounting holes were required to be drilled). Normally Id use a traditional center punch with a hammer or drill a small pilot hole. This was a much slicker and easier way to do it. "I bought this Forged Air mask last month in anticipation of a project I had cutting concrete. Someone asked me yesterday what mask it was. It is surprisingly comfortable as I dont like wearing masks. My favourite feature is the neck clip. I found myself taking it off and letting it dangle at my neck while working then when I had to cut the concrete I could just slip it over my face and head and cut safely. As I get older Ive become more careful with PPE (safety glasses hearing protection and respiratory protection). Ive had my share of eye injury probably some loss of hearing and who knows"

"Though Ive shown other methods I use for last rows the snap lock punch is the recommended way of the vinyl siding institute. The utility trim should go inside a J-channel so its unseen and can be shimmed accordingly depending on where the rip cut of the siding lands. The snap lock punch is not ideal for winter installation conditions. This video was recorded well above freezing temps but it will still break the tab if you dont pre-warm it. On very cold days the tabs can just snap off while clicking it into the utility trim as well. I hope the pre-warming tip helps if youre a DIYer and have"

"This is something Ive shown before - using a snap lock punch to create a locking flap that snaps into the gable trim. I realize many people in other regions have never seen gable trim before and are used to a regular rake drip edge. The flap allows it to lock into the gable trim while still allowing the fascia to move freely. I use stainless steel fascia nails for the bottom and I dont predrill them unless its a dark colour. The bends in the fascia give it enough rigidity so that it doesnt oil can. Ive had the @malcoproductssbc snap lock punch for my entire career. Theres a link in my bio"

"I had no idea how to strip Teck cable before this. I wanted to change my hardwired EV plug to a Nema 14-50 outlet instead for different options. I consulted my electrician friend in my city to make sure that I wired everything properly. He suggested using a hacksaw for the Teck cable - my hacksaw was at the shop and all I had was a reciprocating saw (with a fine toothed metal blade) at home so thats what I used and it worked. "This Silvermine stone veneer product has been a joy to install for this little project. It is made of concrete so it is very heavy. One of the most difficult parts of the project was hand-bombing the pallet of stone from my garage to the yard through snow on my sprained ankle. This is how the corners go together. "This is something I did that has saved me SO much time and headache over the years. Tool bags never have a spot to hold a tacker well. I dont like large head hammer staplers that fit into hammer loops and then you need a dedicated hammer loop to put it in. "Did I flash everything properly [--] yrs ago when I started siding NO. But I learned from my mistakes and other professionals. A lot of flashing is just common-sense. Yes you have to follow your local building codes but codes are often times just the minimum. "There are a few different ways to seal compressor fittings. My go to method is thread tape. I always have white thread tape at home and in the shop. Its cheap simple and effective. The main point to consider is the direction of wrapping the tape around the fitting. Always wrap the tape the opposite direction youll be turning the fitting to tighten it - this way the tape will tighten against the fitting as you screw it in instead of unravelling it. I like to wrap it about 3-4 times and then tighten until snug. This may seem like common sense and common knowledge but when I first did any kind"

Its actually quite simple - spend LESS than you make and save/invest the extra. One simple thing is to bring your lunch/coffee to work every day - I did this for most of my career. "Did you know that the Vinyl Siding Institute does not clarify whether to nail J-channel tight or loose They teach to have 8-10 fastener spacing on J-channel. Ive always nailed it tight without any problems. There are enough bends in the J-channel for strength that the J-channel wont warp. This has worked for me for over [--] years without a single call back or warranty issue. Also many people (aka haters) have commented over the years that they can hand nail faster than my nailer with the Siding Adapter - Ive yet to see a video of that. "Heres another cool thing I saw at the World of Concrete show in Vegas. Ive wrecked many traditional paddle bits in the past by drilling through a nail or a screw - it is quite annoying since my bits are usually part of a set and sometimes you cant replace the individual bit that you wrecked from the set and have to buy a new set. I watched many people drill through nails over and over again using the same bit. I am the one drilling in the video - I drilled through a few nails myself and then proceeded to drill regular holes after going through the nails. After going through nails the bit"

"This short video clip just shows me measuring cutting and installing the soffit J trim. I often measure just by holding the piece up and cutting or marking it with snips. This eliminates errors and saves time as I dont have to remember a measurement. Many different trades utilize this method - for example flooring installers will hold up the last piece and cut it right away instead of measuring it then cutting it. The less number of steps involved in your task the more efficient you become - this often means youre making more money (or youre making your boss more money which means theres a"

You simply have to put the pivot point of the speed square on the slope then find level. It the slope doesnt fall on an exact number on the speed square you can use your pencil to mark it or like in this situation it happened to be on a cut out hole in the square. "This is my quick work table set up if I need one on site. If its just a small [--] hour job I typically dont bother setting anything up and will just use the back of my van as a work surface. I bought these Bora Speedhorses at Home Depot a few years ago when they were on sale. Theyre a bit on the heavier side but the set up is super quick and easy. Each leg is adjustable so its not a problem on uneven ground. Ive kept those 2x4s on the rack in my van for years for this purpose. Many times having a large work surface at a comfortable work height makes the job so much easier and cleaner. It only"

"Did you know that Estwing is launching Titanium Hammer soon I personally have never owned an Estwing - Ive tried other peoples Estwing hammers in the past and have found them too heavy for siding. This hammer probably wouldnt be suitable for me as I dont need a framing hammer for siding. It seems like titanium hammers are here to stay. I still like the old Stiletto [--] oz titanium wood handle hammer as I swung that for over a decade. Your thoughts . . . . . . . . . #estwing #titaniumhammer #newhammer #framinghammer #carpenter #carpentry #framing #framersareadyingbreed"

"This was another cool product I saw at the International Builders Show in Las Vegas. I call it the Sawstop of knives 😂. Except instead of using a hotdog as a test subject I used my own fingers. I had no idea a product like this even existed. As you can see I put quite a bit of pressure on it if the safety guard didnt kick in there wouldve been some deep cuts across my fingers. I think this would be great working in a warehouse where you have to constantly use a utility knife. Once distraction and you can get cut pretty bad. We all make silly mistakes after a long shift as well. As soon as"

"I think that in this day and age there isnt an excuse not to learn how to be handy around the house with basic tools. There is lots of information to be found on the internet on how to fix certain things. I get it that some people just dont want to be bothered to learn or they just make a lot of money so theyd rather hire someone to repair something. In this case it probably would have cost me more in time to try to find someone to fix this door. If I would have not done anything about it eventually the top corner of the door would have chipped off. I was able to do this fix pretty much with"

"Meanwhile in my neighbourhood this happened yesterday. The garbage truck forgot to retract the arm 😳. Thankfully nobody was hurt. The video footage is from the owner of the car"

"Unclogging drains - this is a chore no one wants to do 🤣. Unfortunately in my house its my job and its not even my hair. My daughter was home visiting from out of town my wife asked me to drain the bath water so that my daughter could use the shower. I asked my wife if it was draining this slowly for a while - she said yup. Of course she never told me and I never take baths or use this shower so I didnt know. I bought this Drain Weasel from Home Depot quite a while back since it was under $10. It finally came in handy. I must say it worked quite well. If youve never cleaned a drain before"
