"This evening I celebrated Chanukah with the Jewish community of Djerba an island in Tunisia that is home to what is arguably the oldest continuously active Jewish community outside of Israel. Today the community numbers around 1200 fully observant members. They speak Judeo-Arabic and maintain more than XX active synagogues including the El Ghriba Synagogue which is believed to be the oldest active synagogue in the world. Despite our different traditions it felt meaningful to celebrate Chanukah together on a day that has been difficult for the Jewish people. #jewishlife #chanukah"
