"DIY Gree Sapphire Mini Split Install + Home Assistant Integration I spent some time over the past few weeks DIYing an Alpine Home Air Blue Ridge S5/Gree Sapphire 12K BTU unit - it's running great and all integrated with my home assistant install. These Gree units have a local polling integration - mine is on an IOT VLAN now completely isolated from the internet post install. I'm sure there's room for improvement but figured I would share my writeup. https://houndhillhomestead.com/first-minisplit-install/(https://houndhillhomestead.com/first-minisplit-install/) homeassistant homeassistant"

"Rebuilding ATV Engine - What else to replace I have a [----] polaris sportsman [---] XP - my timing gear spun causing the valves to hit the piston. I purchased it like this and the previous owner said it ran for [---] miles with the erratic idle so I'm guessing it's been like this for a long time. I was considering putting the timing gear back in the right position and getting it welded to the crank - seems like a common way to fix it. If crankshaft bearings looked good I planned to reuse them. Right now I plan to replace pistons and valves (cylinder walls still look clean with no gouging and are"

"Wtf am I looking at here Perimeter drain low spot in center of walkout door Ive been working through some major grading issues and finally have the grade about right in front of my basement walkout door. Water used to pool out here and pour through the bottom of the door. Ive had a little mount built up around it for the last year to prevent that. To get the grade right I had to build up my lawn about a foot. I planned to have one little drop down area filled with 1.5" rock right in front of the door then a small berm around it to make sure all water now flows away from the house and out"

"Winter Project - Attic Office This winter I embarked on a several month journey turning an unfinished attic into a 400sqft office space. I'd never done anything with drywall/flooring beyond basic minor repairs. This project involved rough and finish carpentry electrical and HVAC covering many DIY factions. It's not all perfect but also not that bad I'm extremely pleased with the way everything turned out and am thankful the "bones" of the space were relatively straight and dry.
